Why tax-ready books matter

Messy books make tax season slower, more stressful and often more expensive.

Less back-and-forth

Clean reports answer most of your tax preparer's questions up front.

Fewer surprises

You see how the year went before you file, not after.

Records you can find

Supporting documents stay organized in case you're ever asked for them.

How tax-ready financials work

1

Review your year

We check which months are complete and which accounts still need work.

2

Close out the books

We fill gaps, reconcile every account and fix categories through year-end.

3

Hand off to your CPA

Your reports are organized and ready to share with your tax preparer.

We prepare your books, not your tax return

Tax-ready financials are bookkeeping, not tax preparation. In California, tax returns are prepared by a CPA, enrolled agent, attorney or CTEC-registered tax preparer. If several months are missing, we start with catch-up bookkeeping, and every account gets a full bank reconciliation before year-end reports are prepared.

Tax-ready financials FAQs

When should I start getting my books tax-ready?

The sooner after your year ends, the better. Starting early gives you and your tax preparer more time before filing deadlines.

What records should I keep for my taxes?

The IRS lists supporting documents such as sales slips, paid bills, invoices, receipts, deposit slips and canceled checks. Keeping them organized makes year-end much easier.

How long should I keep my business records?

The IRS says most income tax records should be kept for at least three years and employment tax records for at least four. If you sell taxable goods in California, the CDTFA asks you to keep sales and use tax records for at least four years.

Do you file my taxes?

No. We prepare organized, reconciled books and reports. Your CPA, enrolled agent, attorney or CTEC-registered tax preparer uses them to prepare and file your return.
